From Retirement to Bigger and Better Things
I’m writing to let you know that we’ve now begun a proactive search for suitable real estate investment properties. One of the key regions we’re looking in is Alberta; specifically in areas like Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer. We are stepping gingerly since this is our first purchase of an investment property in quite some time and it is out of our comfort zone given the distance from our home in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
We continue to fill the CD player in our Freestar with your CD’s and have even taken to transferring them to an MP3 player that fits in our shirt pockets. We are now converting what was idle time to valuable learning time!
I just can’t speak highly enough of these CD’s and tapes. They are packed with such valuable information and have already paid for themselves in both savings and additional profits. In many ways I wish I had access to them years ago. Instead, much of my business education was learned through experience… a.k.a. the hard way.
Your seminars and conferences have truly been an inspiration. I’m sure that had it not been for these events, we would still be sitting at home watching Judge Judy and Dr. Phil. Alternatively, we are preparing to invest in out of town properties with a view to owning at least a dozen doors by the end of this year and the same amount next year; 24 properties in all. After this has been achieved, we will sit back and take a good, hard look at our situation, goals and game plan. Interestingly enough, we have also signed a three-year management consulting agreement and are in talks with other potential clients. What more could one ask for?!?
One last thing: as you know, we ‘retired’ on July 23, 2005, at the age of 53. Although we thought we were pretty much set for life, we are instead so excited about all of the prospects for building systems and businesses, and investing in our future and the future of our family. Our retirement has essentially been shot out the window; and besides, we’re having too much fun to just sit around watching TV. My business associates and friends comment on the perpetual smile on my face these days.
Thank you again, Darren, for showing us the path AND providing us with the tools to travel this path with confidence and success. Maybe one day soon our children will be attending your seminars. What higher praise can one give than to hope that the next generation benefits from your good council?
