March's Success Story
The idea of owning our own business is something we'd considered for a long time, but we didn't know how to start or what to do. We'd been struggling with the idea for a while, but everything changed when we moved to Canada in 2000.
Shortly after arriving, Andrey and I found jobs, yet the idea of having our own business wouldn't leave our minds. In fact, our desire to be business owners strengthened because of the incredible opportunities here in Canada. So, after just a year in Canada we started our first part-time business, an Internet company specializing in Web design, development and hosting. Between the two of us, we ran this business for the next four years.
About this time we also began thinking about different investing strategies. We decided that investing in Real Estate was the most interesting for us and soon after this we bought our first investment property, a 12 unit building; however, after four years of being employees, running our part-time business and managing the rental property, we started feeling like something was wrong. We were not moving ahead, we were stuck.
Our business reached a certain point and stopped growing. No matter what we did the situation didn't change, and we experienced the same stalling pattern with our real estate business. We couldn't figure out how to buy and manage more properties without investing a lot of money and time. We were clearly missing something and that something was Financial Literacy, so we started our research and quickly saw that the one book that was recommended by almost everyone was Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.
After reading the book, Andrey and I realized that this book was what we were looking for and we wanted to know more! Then, in February 2005 (just days after finishing the book), we came across a newspaper ad inviting people to a Rich Dad Poor Dad evening event in Toronto. That is how we were first introduced to Fast Track to Cash Flow and Darren Weeks. The presentation was amazing, the material was priceless and Darren was full of energy and enthusiasm – and the room was filled with like-minded people seeking the same knowledge we were. This evening event had a huge impact on us, it truly was a breakthrough.
We realized that learning more meant studying Robert's books and getting involved as much as possible, so we joined the team of volunteers at Darren's events and have never missed a single one in Toronto since. And of course this fits perfectly with the concept of giving first, and recently we even began attending Fast Track to Cash Flow events in other cities to meet more like-minded people and of course learn more.
During the last two years spent attending Fast Track to Cash Flow events we've learned a lot from Darren, his team and his great speakers. We've had incredible opportunities to meet and talk to amazing people and teachers, like Darren, Robert Kiyosaki, Blair Singer, Ken McElroy, Bill Bartmann and many others. We bought and read all of Robert's books, as well as all of the courses and materials offered. We met new like-minded friends and created our Master Mind group, which has started to meet at least once a week to educate each other, keep each other accountable and of course play the CASHFLOW game.
Surprisingly, our Internet business started growing very quickly. We now have more than 20 employees and we were able to quit our day time jobs to work on our own business full time. And the Fast Track Real Estate course guides us through all the steps involved with finding and acquiring properties. We have learned numerous ways of buying properties using Other People's Money, which has allowed us to acquire several multi-unit buildings and turn them into excellent cash flow properties. Finally, we started a new business with our new partners and more are coming!

I thought Akash was insane for making me get up at 6:30 on a Saturday morning (I live quite a distance out of Vancouver) and spend my whole day there.
